I had an amazing time spending the holidays in Paris and what a fabulous ending...ringing in the New Year with thousands of people on the Champ Elysees. It was definitely more exciting than most of my previous New Year's Eves and probably also a lot colder. People watching was at an all time high including the extremely attractive swat team that was out in full force.
It was a great night! We had a relaxing evening, a really good dinner and then toasted in the New Year with a thousand of our closest friends :)!
The plan was to head home before the metro got packed, but needless to say that didn't happen. For security reasons they closed several entrances to the metro and we kind of walked in circles for a bit trying to find the line that would take us home without being smashed in like sardines. We did get to see the Eiffel Tower after it had changed color and a few other sites we had missed during the week. When we finally got home we were grateful that we had made the decision to stay until the 2nd of January and could sleep without setting an alarm.
In short Paris was spectacular from beginning to end! It was a true vacation and the break has re-energized me for starting classes at the University again.
