Brilliant Inventions

One thing I have discovered here that has been great for sleeping late is the coverings on the windows. Each window in the house has, instead of screens on the outside, a metal or wooden cover. They come down over the window and remind me of garage doors. Hopefully the picture helps my verbal description. The amazing thing about these covers is that they can block out all of the light! I think they also help to insulate and keep the house warm.
I have learned during the week it is best to leave some of them up, so that I don't over sleep for class, but on Friday nights I can put all of them down and sleep right through the early morning.
Now for some of you morning people this may not seem so great, but for those of you who can appreciate and love sleep like I do you, you will relish with me in this marvelous invention.
So...for those of you coming to visit you can decide which is more needed a bright sun-filled wake up call or a long needed sleep! It might also depend on how much of the jug of wine you have helped me drink.

After many trips to Europe, I have also come to love those shades and wondered why we don't hav ethem in America. I am sure it is vanity as they are not the most attractive but I would love to put them on teh window in Katherine's new room as there is waaaaay too much light in there at nap time and early in the morning.

Hi Linda!
I just caught up on some much needed blog reading! :) I look at the pictures and think ... "Calgon, take me away from Stemmons/Inwood in Dallas to Italy, PLEASE!" :) I'm so excited that you've built new friendships and are slowly but surely mastering the language. (Your next post will be in Italian, yes?) :) It was so great to hear how encouraged you were on your recent trip to witness with the folks from TEAM. I think about you often and I hope you had a HAPPY BIRTHDAY yesterday. I look forward to hearing from you again soon.
