Well, I have not updated my blog in forever so here goes some good catching up. In the middle of the August heat I met my friend, Linda Guest, for a couple of nights of hotel air conditioning and a bit of sight-seeing. She had been in northern Italy for a conference so we met up in Verona. It was one of the most relaxing vacations in a short period of time that I have had. She found a great deal at a Best Western where we had a pool, fitness center, free evening happy hour, which had so many different appetizers that it was like a free dinner, and the best was to spend two nights sleeping in air conditioning. We went into Verona and wandered around the city.

We shopped at a market,

climbed a tower to see the whole city

and then saw "Juliet's" balcony, even though she was not a real person.

Then while driving back to the hotel we got to drive through Soave, a small town with cute windy roads, tons of vineyards and a castle, that I we did not pay to go into, but enjoyed the outside view.

Our last night while driving to Lago di Garda (one of the biggest lakes in Italy, if not the biggest), we missed our exit and had an adventure in another tiny town since the next exit wasn't for 20 minutes. The best part was getting a picture in one of the millions of vineyards we saw.

All in all it was a get away in the heat of August.
