When Karin and Jolie came to visit we decide to rent a car for our weekend trip, and graciously Karin volunteered to drive. Which meant I would navigate because driving in Italy, if you ask me, is a two person job. One person needs to drive, but you really need another to read the list of signs. This picture is a small visual from a round about somewhere near me. Just picture as you are driving, watching traffic, speed, etc. and now... quick...make a
decision...which way do you go! The worst is when you are in a tunnel surrounded by concrete walls with three choices and just as many signs. Needless to say, you often choose the wrong direction the first time around. The one advantage of the round about, is you can just keep circling until you figure it out, but be ware of motion sickness. OK that was a bit of a tangent, but I hope you it gave you an idea of the experience.
The other enjoyment in driving through Tuscany was having a third party, Jolie, to take pictures of all the vineyards, castles, ruins, hills and picturesque views as we drove. This is where the "nothing but trees" phrase comes in. For some reason much of the Autostrada, the nicer highway through Tuscany, has many areas of trees lining the road. So just when you think you have a great view...bam a tree is in the way. Here are a few photos from the drive...
Now I do have to say that Jolie did a fabulous job and below are some of the good pictures!
